a 2nd Birthday

Ada had a lot of fun on her 2nd Birthday: she sang songs, ate yummy lemon cake, played with friends, enjoyed penguin balloons, jumped up and down on the couch, and was celebrated by many friends and family from afar. She opened presents: books, stuffed animals, a game, an outfit, a jumpy chicken, and a beautiful hand-made hat! It was all-in-all a beautiful day, filled with love, special things, and play — exactly what a 2 year old wants!

Here is a picture of Ada on her special day:

Ama & Ada having a laugh

Ama visited for two weeks, and they became great pals!

A typical morning:

Ada telling a joke

and having a belly laugh!

Ada’s favorite joke is “pickle driving a hat”. If you can’t laugh at that, you really have no sense of humor! She’s is a real ham.

Bows!

What a cutie! We tried something new. How lucky to be so cute!

Wanna come play?!

New Year’s on the Beach

Ada and I (Rebecca) spent New Year’s eve on the beach. It was a rainy and thoughtful day. A photo from a friend who spotted us…

Riding a horse, talking on the phone, & hearing an airplane

Ada’s suddenly so creative, with lots of being able to show us how she can play make believe, make new observations, and show us fun ways of using stuff in new ways. Its so cool to see her imagination unfolding. Here she’s riding a horse (aka the stroller), talking on the phone, and hearing an airplane. Its some busy playing.

Just a regular day

Just a regular day, in a green skirt, pink socks, and yellow t-shirt, that is.

What’s in the backyard

Ada wonders what is in the backyard on a sunny Sunday in June. A few quiet pictures.

Ada & her own spoon

Ada’s learning to try out feeding herself with her own spoon. Lots of new coordination underway. She really loves yogurt and says “yaaghrrrt yammmi, yammi, yammi” = (yogurt yummy!).

One Year Ago

In May, my Yoga Moms group met at Tilden Park and we rode the steam train, wooo!!wooo!!   Ada nabbed the prime spot in the tree, and was pretty proud.

Can you believe this is the same group almost exactly a year ago?   Babies/kiddos are lined up in age order (Ada and the two to her right — were born on the same day.  Ada is the  wee one.  She can’t even sit up!).

We’ve come a long way.  Each day — moment to moment.  A child is raised over the energy of a lifetime. We create the reference point connecting their millions of moments each day, their reference on love and continuity.   This timescale removes us from our own immediacy – breathe and reorient to what is important, at least as best we can.   These moms & babies have been our good buddies & given us so much support this year.   I’m grateful.  We can’t do it alone!

New Shoes

Ada received a very special gift from her papa — a pair of beautiful pink shoes. Hamid had gone out shopping for business clothes, but didn’t find anything. Instead he came back with a pleased look on his face. He had a little box, with these cute cupcake-almost-edible shoes inside. Ada walked around with big tall steps and was very proud of herself. Papa was pretty proud too!
