Ada and I played a little rhyme and funny double meaning game today.  It just kind of happened with lunch.  We started with:

– What do you think Lilly ate when she turned eight?

and

– What do you think she won when she turned one?

ha, ha!

Here’s our list:

1.  What do you think she won when she turned one?

2.  What did she do when she turned two?

3.  Who did she see when she turned three?

4.  What was she looking for when she turned four?

5.  Who got a high-five when she turned five?

6. What did she fix when she turned six?

7. Who was eleven when she turned seven?

8.  What do you think she ate when she turned eight?

9.  What was fine when she turned nine?

10. Should we do it again when she turned ten?

Ada’s been playing with double meanings for a long time.  This is our newest version.

Ada’s discovery.  Lots of words have double meanings… Funny!

It started with:

– ‘bat’ and ‘bat’ (the animal and the baseball implement) …ha! ha!

Then it evolved to:

– ‘bump into’ and ‘bump into’ (physically bump and find someone in the grocery store)
– ‘play with” and ‘play with’ (regular and ‘play’ with your phone)

Then it just took off:
– one two, one too! (numbers, me too)
– pool, pool (swimming and car pool)
– orange and orange (fruit and color)
– see and sea and “C”
– which and witch
–

Now we’re finding double meanings everywhere.  Physical and figurative meanings popping through everywhere we go… Very cool!
